Symbol Dynamics® EXP®
The Scientific Word Processor
EXP 3.0
EXP 4.0
After upgrading to a new version of Windows or after installing a new printer, EXP does not recognize the printer and disables the Print command.
EXP 3.0 and EXP 4.0 are 16-bit programs and can only interface with 16-bit printer drivers. All versions of Windows from Windows 95 onwards have been 32-bit operating systems that use 32-bit printer drivers. Printer manufacturers were originally engineering their 32-bit printer drivers to provide backwards compatibility with 16-bit programs. However, since about the year 2000, printer driver manufacturers seem to have abandoned support for 16-bit programs.
The only solution is to purchase the latest version of EXP, which is a 32-bit program capable of interfacing with 32-bit printer drivers.
