Why are the EXP symbol fonts not displaying correctly?

Sometimes as the result of uninstalling other versions of EXP, or of upgrading Windows, the EXP symbol fonts no longer display correctly. The solution to this problem is to re-install the EXP fonts. Follow these steps:

Windows 11/10/8/7/Vista

  1. Make sure EXP is not running.
  2. Use Windows to navigate to the folder "<EXPDIR>\Fonts", where <EXPDIR> is the directory in which you installed EXP.
  3. Select all the files in that folder.
  4. Right-click the selected group of files and click Install on the popup menu.
  5. Restart EXP.

Windows XP

  1. Make sure EXP is not running.
  2. Start the Windows Control Panel.
  3. Go to the Fonts section.
  4. If you are using EXP 5.1 or later, select the fonts whose names begin with "EXP". If you are using an earlier version of EXP, select the fonts whose names begin with "BC".
  5. From the menu, choose File and then Delete.
  6. From the menu, choose Install New Font.
  7. In the Add Fonts dialog box, move to the "<EXPDIR>\Fonts" directory, where <EXPDIR> is the directory in which you installed EXP.
  8. Select all the fonts in that directory.
  9. Turn off the checkbox labeled "Copy fonts to Fonts folder".
  10. Click the OK button to add the fonts.
  11. Exit Control Panel.
  12. Restart EXP.
